Understanding the PSI paper structure

Rajasthan Police Sub Inspector recruitment is conducted by RPSC. The written examination has two papers of 200 marks each: Paper I is General Hindi, Paper II is General Knowledge and General Science. Both carry 1/3 negative marking.

Paper I is the paper most candidates underestimate. It is pure grammar, and grammar is learnable — which makes it the most reliable place to gain marks.

The 90-day plan

Days 1–30: Build the base

• Hindi grammar (2 hours daily). Work through sandhi, samas, upsarg-pratyay, alankar and vakya shuddhi in that order.
• Rajasthan GK (2 hours daily). History and art & culture first.
• General science (1 hour daily). NCERT-level physics, chemistry and biology.
• Weekly: one sectional test per subject to find weak spots early.

Days 31–60: Depth and speed

• Move to advanced Hindi grammar: muhavare, lokoktiyan and paribhashik shabdavali.
• Complete Rajasthan geography and polity.
• Start current affairs consolidation — one page per month.
• Weekly: two sectional tests and one full-length mock.

Days 61–90: Test and revise only

• Stop reading new material after day 75.
• One full-length mock every alternate day, always at the real exam time of day.
• Spend twice as long reviewing each mock as taking it.
• Maintain an error notebook and revise it every third day.

Physical preparation runs in parallel

The physical efficiency test is not an afterthought. Candidates who begin running only after clearing the written exam frequently struggle. Build a running routine from day one — it also improves concentration during long study sessions.
